2025 Alibhai et al. - Growth Factor-Based Manufacturing of Human Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Cardiomyocytes Using the Vertical-Wheel Bioreactor System

Abstract

Describes scalable production of ventricular and atrial cardiomyocytes from human pluripotent stem cells in Vertical-Wheel® bioreactors using a growth factor-based differentiation process. The protocol integrates stem cell expansion, mesoderm induction, cardiomyocyte differentiation, scale-up to 500 mL, and validation through electrophysiology, force generation, and transplantation studies.
